URBAN DESIGN AND THE COLOR LINE

ACADEMIC PROJECT + PARTNERSHIP WITH THE HIGH LINE NETWORK
+ THE GATHERING PLACE, TULSA OK - 2023

This course was designed to examine historic the role that race and class have played and continue to play in the design and production of physical projects. Through a collaboration with the High Line Network, a peer-to-peer community of infrastructure reuse projects, myself and two other graduate students partnered with The Gathering Place-a large recreation amenity and community gathering space in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We worked with local partners to provide technical assistance and develop intentionally anti-racist, equity-focused research and design methodologies to foster more equitable public space.

Levels of Accessibility: Access to The Gathering Place via Walking, biking, day bus, and evening bus.
